Level: All Levels
Instructor: Marsha Hill
Day: Class date to be announced. On a break!

Cost: $205.00

Acrylic ink is a multidimensional and versital media. It does not fade and you can use it in combination with graphite pencils, ink pencils, colored pencils. It thins with water and cleans up with water. It is fast drying and u-v stable. Colors can be created by mixing, and it goes a long way. You can use a variety of tools to apply different creative effects. brushes, pen staffs, technical pens, sponges, paper towels, all work. You can do fine artwork pieces or technical art work. All are suitable for reproducing with giclees prints or other print media.

I want to see examples of your work in your favorite media. Also bring photos of images you would like to create in ink. I use color ink as well as black and white. There is a suggested list of supplies for the course. The cost is about $64.00 including shipping from Dick Blicks. Marie Sullivan will order them for you if you wish.

There is a camera that we can use available to put the images on paper, but the class only lasts 2 hours so any thing you can do outside of class will save time. You can also go to a copy shop and get a color xerox to work from. Images drawn on tracing paper also work well. I will show you shaping techniques, and you can use pens or pencils which ever you are most comfortable with.

I will also demonstrate ink blot painting in color. Light weight paper works well for this , as folding is required. Watercolor paper or bristol paper is recomended. Hot press will give a sharper image. Cold press works as well, but produces a softer image. bristol paper will not handle a great deal of water.

Wear or bring an old shirt to paint in as the acrylic will not come out of your clothes. I am looking forward to meeting you and learning what you want to paint. This class is limited in number so that i can give individual attention to each student.
